Cost-effectiveness and a streamlined process are the keys to successfully running a garment factory amid growing complexities such as the internationalization of supply chains, fluctuating consumer demand and high process variance. To achieve these, more focus needs to be given to performance evaluation and monitoring, and apparel manufacturers need use various approaches and indicators to improve their business conduct.
Managers aim for better efficiency and higher productivity, zero defects, competitive cost and meeting consumer demand in a timely manner. Of course, these improvements or set targets cannot be achieved overnight and require a strategic approach to performance management at factory level!
In this module, you will learn about productivity and different key performance indicators (KPIs) used in the garment industry, with a focus on incentives and bonuses. You will also learn how to measure performance with different parameters. Measuring KPIs will give you a clear idea of where you stand right now! Based on different KPIs’ data, you can prepare a plan of action for improvement in your organization.

Explain the difference between productivity and efficiency, and identify different ways to improve productivity in an apparel company;Establish appropriate KPIs and incentives for different situations while calculating the return on investment (ROI) of any production improvements made; and
